Conga Kids

The Conga Kids program is focused on teaching diversity, equity, inclusivity, and social and emotional learning strategies. Working with the Conga Kids teaching staff, our 5th-grade students receive one lesson per week exploring the dances of the African Diaspora, including Lamban, Merengue, Son Cubano, Salsa, Authentic Jazz, Cumbia, and Hip-Hop.

At the end of the 5th-grade session, Conga Kids facilitates a culminating performance, where all 5th-graders will show off what they’ve learned with Conga Kids! Students and families are invited to celebrate and enjoy a final Conga Kids performance. Additionally, our Dr. Sammy Lee Conga Kids Team competes 

Conga Kids Competition Series: Selected 5th-grade students will compete in a Regional Semi-Final Competition hosted by a neighboring school. Our 2023-2025 5th-grade team finished second place in its first competition.
