About Us

At Dr. Sammy Lee, students are actively engaged and take ownership of their learning through a collaborative partnership among teachers, staff, and families. Every member of our school community is dedicated to providing an educational program grounded in our medical and health science theme, with an emphasis on hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Our approach encourages students to explore, ask questions, think critically, and apply their learning in meaningful ways.

In 2018, Dr. Sammy Lee Medical Health Science Magnet Elementary School was recognized as a California Distinguished School, an honor that recognizes exemplary public schools for outstanding achievement and significant progress in narrowing achievement gaps. This recognition reflects our school community’s commitment to academic excellence, student success, and providing high-quality educational opportunities.

The Late Application window for the 2026-2027 academic year is now open. Applications can be submitted online through the LAUSD Unified Enrollment portal at apply.lausd.net.
